Smallest Possible Pelican (1520?)

Hi all,

I have the DVX100a with the Anamorphic adapter. I am looking for the smallest possible Pelican case for it. Is this the 1520? It sounds like the 1520 is big enough for the DVX, but what about the ana-adapter? I need small as I do a lot of stuff outdoors. Mostly climbing and kayaking. For example, I need the case to fit in my kayak and kayak hatches are small (my large one is 16.5" x 12"). Climbing is less of an issue, but small is better. I can't find an image of the 1520 with the camera in it anywhere (plenty with the 1600 though). So if anyone has one, please post! How well does that 1527 travel case work? Anyone using this setup.

Thanks!

Re: Smallest Possible Pelican (1520?)

the dvx with ana is almost the exact same size as the stock dvx. remember the lense hood comes off the dvx, and the ana goes on, it ends up being nearly the same size. test it out for yourself if your worried about it.

I posted some pictures of the 1520 with the 1527. Look back three pages and you'll find it. Sorry I didn't have time to do the link.

Hey Pattrick, I am actually using my DVX for filming kayaking. A lot of my trips are several days expedtions where weight and size are huge factors. I am able to get my DVX in a 1400 Pelican Case. You must however, remove the lense Hood (which also fits in the 1400 case with camera, just not on the Camera) and fold the eye piece up at a 90 degree angle to make this work. It is a very tight fit but it works. I am able to get the DVX, Lense Hood, 2 batteries, and 2 tapes in the 1400 case. IF you want I can send you pictures of this set up.

You said you were going to be using the ana-lense which obviously you don't want to take on and off all time. Pelican makes a 1450 case now that is just slightly bigger than the 1400 and should allow you to keep the lense on all the time, if you do not mind a little extra size and weight.

I hope this helps,

Joe

Hey all,

thanks for the great tips. Jow, I'd love to see some pics of your setup. Drew, I remember your pics and searched using 1520 as well as browsed through older threads but couldn't find anything. I'll keep looking now that I know it exists and isn't something I dreamed up.

Joe, are you doing whitewater or sea? I'm a sea kayaker and am also looking into some deck-based solar rechargers. I'll post here what I find out about building them.

Patrick, I am doing both White Water and Sea Kayaking. I am primarily a white water kayaker but, I work as the West Coast Rep. for Impex Kayaks, which only sells high performance composite Sea Kayaks, if you have not heard of us check us out at: http://www.impexkayak.com/

I am not sure about the Solar chargers, but here is a picture of the 1400 Pelican Case set up.

Thanks! I'll take a look at the 1420. Yup, I've heard of Impex though haven't paddled one. Currently, my main ride is a Kajak Sport Millennium though I've had many boats over the years.

I'll post a pic of the case I end up getting.

Re: Smallest Possible Pelican (1520?)

That picture scared me for a second! I am about to order the 1520 and I thought that was a 1520 pictured! I was like man I am not going to be able to get hardly nothing in there! I am glad to see that was a 1420!

You can check www.cases4less.com but FYI they are going to charge like $20-25 in shipping. If you order from B&H shipping is like $9.00 depending on where you live.
