Smallest moving GG solution yet???

Beautiful, Dennis!

Rawfa, I think the shiny aluminum makes it look heavier than it actually is. It depends on the type of aluminum, but I’m quite sure Dennis used light alu for the adapter. I’ll let him confirm that, though.

Thanks for the feedback guys...I'm glad you're liking it. With respect to weight, keep in mind that the adapter is only 3 1/2 inches long, and less than 3 inches in diameter. Rather than guess on the weight, I'll actually post it up as measured on a small digital scale. I have no qualms whatsoever about attaching it to my GS400 filter threads with a 50mm lens and no rails. It's incredibly stiff, and looks much heavier than it is. Much of the alumimum you see is only 3mm in thickness. That's what's great about CNC. You can work with less material, but still maintain consistent properties on 100 parts.

Carbon fibre weighs nothing.

Enough speculation though, I'll weigh it.

That is great to hear, D. The Breavis is going to look beautiful on my FX1...I'll be the coolest kid on the playground ;-)

Kenny, powder coating should not be a big deal. There are several outfits locally who do it. I'll have an idea on Monday. I'm also getting solid rocket boosters made. It looks a bit like one of those science fiction B-movie spaceships in raw aluminum, so I'd like to complete the look :-)

So to get an idea on cost...

adapter~795
rails~120 + adapter~35
shipping~aprox. $50

At this point I am at $1000 USD and have not included,

macro~130? for dvx/hvx bumps it to $1130 USD

So am I way off base here in terms of cost?

IDV, that's close, however the adapter price currently set at $795 does include the charger/ac adapter as well as a Pelican box for shipping/storage.

Shipping will range from 20 to 70 ranging from Canada/US to Australia.

Final pricing on the rails, support, adapter are still to be tweaked. I've set them higher than I think the price in production as I'd rather lower them, than raise them at this point.

The same applies to the achromat. It looks like none of the Sony cams will need one, and really the HD100 and DVX will likely have similar specs. The achromat may be as inexpensive as 60. Like everything, the costs go down with volume.

Undoubtedly there will be comparisons to other adapters at their price points. Combine all the Brevis features together, and I believe you will find it untouchable at its current price point. A similarly equipped M2 is $1495. The M2 does not however have internal rechargeable power, shield optics for dustproofing, is bigger, heavier, and will take much longer to setup. Is every part CNC machined to .001" tolerance? I won't speak to light loss, but from what I've seen, the Brevis should be in the area of .7 to 1 f/stop better.

Dennis, let your footage speak for you. Go out and shoot those XL2 tests you mentioned before. I think there's a lot of people here interested in how the brevis will work out with a more powerful camera.

Ha Rawf. I'm like a new father when the couple next to him whispers "that baby isn't very cute". It'll pass.

The "production" special diffusers are finally here, which means the XL2 test is officially scheduled for Monday afternoon. I'll shoot some footage, exterior shots etc, and post it up. The XL2 owner is a film student and very experienced shooter with that camera. Should be cool.

Hi, i´m planning to purchase a brevis 35.
I have some M42 lenses (a 50 mm f 1,8 zeiss, 20 mm f 2,8, 35 mm 2,8) but I don´t know if I´m going to spend 800 $ with brevis adapter ... are better choice a nikon or canon lenses? what do you think?

thanks

M42 mounts are available. Nikon has maintained the same mount throughout their line of lenses...so that mount offers the most lens choices.

I'm very stoked about this adapter.

I'm very anxious to see some DVX HVX tests.

Will there be an option to buy and interchange camera mounts?

And are gunna offer a PL mount?

looks better everyday dennis.

(BTW you should have called it the "thunder 35" )

Since you shoot with an interchangeble lens camera, will you provide an optional relay lens to directly attach the adapter to the XL2s body?
Only the new LetusXL seems to offer this so far, but I guess every XL1/2/H1 or HD100 owner would look forward to this self evident feature...
And would pay for it of course, as it doesn´t seem self evident for the adapter manufacturers...

Spartacus, the main focus right now is to get the adapters out there. A relay lens is not out the question, but definitely not currently on the "CAD" table. The GS400 BTW, is not an interchangeable lens camera.

I've mounted up one of the production diffusers...and they're perfect. Hopefully I'll get a chance tomorrow to do some new footy with the new diffuser.
