Small star big attitude

Northern Dreamer
So I'm down at the Celtic pride parade the other day, Granville st. is closed to traffic, everybody has a good time in the sun wearing green and mino shows up with his DVX. I went down because it was a sunny day and high noon so it would be bithchy lighting day for run and gun, harsh shaddows flanked with really bright buildings...I need practice. Anyway I come across this guy blowing up balloons and tying them into doggy and catty shapes and start to tape. This guy is getting a little belligerant with the children surrounding him telling them to back up, get back in a very non santaclausical tone. Then he sees the camera and hits the deck saying he's not making anymore ballon animals till the guy with the camera leaves. Now I'm not one to start trouble so I respect his wishes and lower the DVX. Then Mr. balloon twister starts going off on me about how I should have asked his permission and blah, blah the charter of rights in a tone that kinda started to push my buttons. "Well"l I said, " you don't appear to be a famouse person or building, and you are on public property" Under the new canadian charter of rights I'm not allowed to film him without his permission, he tells me. "Especially if it's for broadcast" I assured him it wasn't for broadcast. Well to make a long story short, I left the area thinking what a great ambassador of the Celtic parade this guy was. Does anyone know for my own knowledge, how correct this fella was?

Well Mino, he's full of it.

If you're on public property, you can film whatever you like, including into someone's yard.
Canada hasn't gone as paranoid as the US.

I only work in the US.

ha ha ha
a lot of people get intimidated by tha DVX
make yourself a press/media badge
and when they start acting up signal them to hush or cut it, like they're the ones messing up YOUR work

... you shouldve just told him that you were doing a documentary on "freaks of the city" and all of this was going to make some really great material.. and then just keep on rolling on him... of course all while laughing heartily and telling the children to get away from the "freak".

Didn't think I was out of my boundries! The funny part is I never even got the camera into record mode...Too busy messing with the settings. So I guess, Mr. balloon boy, you don't have to worry about having your bad attitude broadcast for the world to see this time eh?
