Small render farm/cluster/distrubted processing

I've been asked to configure five of my teams computers into a small render farm to potentially speed things up. Search didn't turn up any results, probably because I don't yet know the proper terms, and online the only slightly informative things are Apple Compressor or Pooch, but nothing specifically referring to Premier/CS5.

How would you configure the cluster software for such a setup?

It would be to string together 5 macs. I assume they have to be on the same network, but could the 5 computers be on individual networks (at each persons home)?

Many thanks for any help on this!

I thought I've seen references to After Effects having some sort of 'render farmish' option, in the Production Premium bundle. I never used such, so don't have any details.

I don't know if Premiere has anything of the sort, other than if AE has it, pass the Premiere project to AE for rendering.

correct, you can use render farm for AE, but premiere doesn't have this capability

also, you are limited to still images for export (png, tiff), because each frame is rendered separately and independently
