Small portable cheap light - interview situations with EX1

speaking of zylights, the rgb function of these lights look awesome but I'm thinking there's a huge mark-up that goes with anything video related, the wifi control is cool though.
I've found these rgb led lights that are cheap as here: http://www.instrumentpro.com/P-ADJP36LED.html

here's a movie showing them in action, http://www.americandj.com/pdffiles/P36.mov

anyone wants to buy these and test them out?

It all depends upon how well it does white and also depends upon your carrying around a DMX control surface and cables with you too which some may not want to do since they are turning to LEDs for portability sake in the first place. Someone operating on total battery power in a car or on the street wouldn't want this for instance since they need the DMX controller to make it usable.

Those lights say they can be run standalone but even still. I've seen some pretty small dmx controller units and if they can control things like the colour and dimming, it would make a pretty powerful small lighting set up. Especially for the the low cost. That is of course if it does do white light which i will find out soon.

just as a note to the original question: 200 euros is about 300 american dollars. For that price you could easily grab a Lowel Omni or Tota (even two totas). Reliable well established professional lights. For 300 american dollars, there is also the Lowel Rifa, which is a much more natural soft light.

Just because LEDs are the new cool things doesn't mean the other lights don't work anymore ;). I know many who have worked with LEDs and had problems with heating and color temp issues. You won't have to worry about that kind of thing if you go with a traditional tungsten fixture.

Then again, those LED fixtures are mighty futuristic...

I bought one of the 60 LED HF lights the other day after seeing this thread.
10hrs initial charge. 6hrs there after (acoording to manual). The plus is you get up to 4hrs continuous runtime so if you buy 2 then you could feasibly have zero downtime (who really uses a light for 4 hrs non stop)

Like Cheno said temp is about 56k or higher. very cool lighting that I personally don't like but gel could fix that. Another problem is that the light is very focused and I am trying to create a good diffuser that won't rob much light.

I took some sample video last night comparing a Readylight 20 to the HF LED I'll post video shortly
