Slowing down 50fps video

What is the best way to slow down the video clip shot in 50fps and then slow it down even more with Twixtor? I never did it before, so I would be glad for any advice...

Theres a good manual for Twixtor that gets installed along with the program. It's also available online in a couple of places - Google it. There are also tutorial at Creative Cow, etc - Google will find those for you too.

I found only one tutorial for Sony Vegas, so I wanna ask if this is the right workflow:
- shoot clip in 50fps (with faster shutter speed, for example 1/120
- set project setting to for example 24fps
- disable resample of particular clip
- set playback rate of the clip to 24 fps
- use Twixtor
- render it in 24fps

Is it allright like this in Sony Vegas?

No, you don't slow it by setting it to a frame rate. You slow it by changing the playback rate.

You can also use a velocity envelope.

Is this footage 50 fps or 60? Is it progressive or interlaced?

My footage is 50p. So I change playback rate to 24fps and then render it as 24fps? Frame rate in project settings probably doesnt matter?
BTW, after applying Twixtor and rendering the clip I get only red screen.

No, the frame rate in the project settings matters quite a bit. It should be what you want the final output to be.

You don't set the playback rate to a frame rate, you set it to a decimal. If you want the footage slowed down to 50% speed, then choose .5000. If you want it slowed down to 25% speed, then choose .2500. And so on. (This is in the clip properties.)

But why do you have 50p if you want to go to 24 fps? Are you in a PAL territory? If so, then you'll want your timebase to be 25 fps, not 24.

Its ment for the internet, so it doesnt matter I think. I will chose 25fps, ok. But I am still wondering if I need to change playback rate in Vegas even when I will slow down the clip in Twixtor (for extreme slow motion).

Well, Internet or not, 50p is still going to work better in a 25p timebase rather than 24p.

If you're going to use Twixtor to do all the slowing, then you don't need to do anything with the clip in Vegas. But you said you wanted to slow it in Vegas first then more in Twixtor.
