Slow-Motion

Hey all-

i recently purchased a new intel based mac and am looking to do slow and fast motion for some clips (including time ramping) and was wondering what's the best software to use. AE? Shake? if it is AE, what do i do since AE 7 is not compatible with intel chips? Also, i'm not too keen on buying a whole software suite for one effect and was wondering if there were a decent fcp plug-in that would do it.

best

AE and Shake use similar engines for pixel interpolation, so they should yield comparable results. As for AE7 not being universal: either run it in rosetta or wait til AE8 (my guess is its coming in the next couple months).

Both programs will require you to sit down for a weekend with a good instructional book to learn the ins and outs... Both are great. Shake is less expensive now that it has been discontinued by Apple (its successor, named Phenomenon, is rumored to arrive sometime in 2008)

If you are currently running FCP, it has a built in ramping tool. But last time I remember it was a bit clunky. If you have it, you could just mess around with it until you get AE or Shake.
