Slow motion

I just shot a music video and I sped the track up to 125% played it on set then slowed the video down to 75% to try and match the sync so I could get slow movement with matching lips but it did not quite line up. What did I do wrong? Any suggestions?

Audio at 125% means a 3-minute song would play back in 144 seconds.

144 seconds, played back at 75% speed, gives you 192 seconds. You were trying to get to 180.

Basically, your match was off. Think of it like this: 10, minus 20%, = 8. But 8, plus 20%, does not equal 10; it equals 9.6.

Once upon a time I figured out the formula for doing this, and it was designed around shooting 30p for the video and then playing it back at 24p so you wouldn't have any ugly time-stretching artifacts. Look back at this thread:

Simple mathematics really. 100 out off 125 is 80%. Simple for us in Sweden since our tax rate is 25%.

Think of it as increase and decrease you will do fine

I'm doing a one take slo mo music video so the closest I can get to my audio syncing up the better.

The rough calcs are lip sync to music plauing at %125 of the original tempo filmed using 30p. Put the 30p clip into a 23.98 timeline and the slo mo should play back %80 speed which is now the original tempo.

But as 30p isn't really 30 fps and I'll be putting the clip into a 23.98 timeline can anyone help me track down Barry's or any formula to make this work.

The above Link just takes me to the dvxuser homepage.

Thanks

Kip
