slow motion

So i'm shooting a music video in slow motion with my canon xh- a1 with the method of performing the song at a faster tempo than originally and then slowing down to the original speed. I was wondering, first, what frame rate I should shoot at (60i?) also what shutter speed to use, also how fast to speed up the song to get that look and how much to slow down the footage accordingly to achieve the 24p look in a 24p timeline. I also was wondering how to speed up the song accurately as final cut doesn't seem to do so. When i typed 250%, it sped it up 250.08% which seems as it would be problematic.

btw song was recorded in pro tools

Thank you very much for your help.

Get yourself a real DP.

Hiring an established DP does a few things for you. First, it gives you a wealth of experience to draw from.

I say that for this reason. Without LOOKING at the location and how you plan on lighting it and what style video you want to go with we really would just be guessing.

SO...

First thing you should do is some experiments on your own. Light something. Shoot it with this speed, shoot it with that speed. Put it thru a process of slowing it down, take a look for yourself. Get a calculator and figure out what ratio 30 to 24 is.

Now... IF you want my free opinion beyond that... check this out:

I do it with shake... but you can do it with compressor too. Just dig around (manual) and work on the settings yourself. The link I show that HAD the compressor settings doesn't work anymore.

But hey -- time for your own due diligence, yes?
