Slow-motion with me... slow-motion with me.

I'm looking to shoot an HD spec in slow-motion and I'm trying to find an alternative to rent instead of the high-priced Phantom (over $2,000 a day? no thank you). I'm looking for something that shoots faster than 60 fps that I can rent for a decent price.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

The red can get you 120 fps in 2k...?

...

For 120fps when using Red, not only do you have to shoot in 2k but you also have to shoot to the Red Drive and have the project setting aspect ratio at 2:1. ie. A project setting of 2k 16:9 would make the max frame rate 100fps when the sensor is in varispeed mode.

Yeah I was thinking about RED. Again it's pricey. But the spec calls for just one single slow-mo shot to last 30 seconds. These specs are for Web and TV, so if I'm going 120 at 2K— I'd be fine.

Has anyone ever done a multi-camera slow-motion effect with aforementioned program? Sounds crazy, and I've thought about this a lot. It just seems kinda sketchy.

Thanks for your help everyone!

I have shot a bit of high speed. The Phantom has always worked but as you said, "pricey". Also to run up to the 1000 fps range you are going to need a lot of light (10k's or 20k's). Again a very pricey way to go. You can see some slow mo on the video on my home page.

There is no cheap way to do super slow motion.
You have high speed film, high speed cinema cameras, or high speed scientific cameras.
none of which are cheap. If your scene is indoors it gets even more costly real quick.
