Slow Motion in Music Videos

In music videos many times it looks like the singer is singing in slow motion but the video plays back at the right speed and the song lyrics he's singing match the actually song's speed. When they shoot the music video, are the band members playing at a faster speed and shot at a higher frame rate so when its played back at 24 fps, everything matches? Here's an example...

I also wonder how thats done but i remember watching making the video of "touch my body" by mariah cary(u can search it on mtv's website i think) and what they did is double the speed of the audio(cant remember specifics)so that she was actually singing to a speeded up track then in post i assume they slowed down the audio and video so that u get a slow motion playback

Its been discussed a lot, check out the link from my previous post, if you can pull it off, its a lot of fun to do.

Hello, first time poster here.

I'm pitching a music video and I want to do the shooting in slow motion but at sync.

I've had a look about the web and I can see the specs for 24fps, 23.98 fps, and several others, but I want to shoot 60 fps on a 25fps editing timebase.

does anyone know what the calculation would be? I'm thinking the song needs cranking 240% with corrected pitch, but I'm really not sure and I can't risk getting this wrong.

Best

240%, but just do a quick test! Shoot yourself singing along to a song sped up at that pace.
