Hey, can anyone tell me how to succesfully edit 24p in slow motion in vegas. I normally edit with just regular velocity envolope, but then i end up getting the strob, waving effect when i rendered with pulldown. Anyone know how to correct this problem?
24p is NOT good for slow-motion. You are experiencing that now. It’s very hard to get smooth slo-mo, if you can at all.
Best to shoot in 30p, bring it into a 24p timeline, and slow it down to 80%. The slowdown will be mild, but it will be perfectly smooth, and full-resolution.
Or, shoot in 60i, bring it into the 24p timeline, and slow it down to 40%. The slowdown will be much more pronounced, the motion will be perfectly smooth, but up to half the vertical resolution will be lost.
Also, if trying to slow down 24p footage in Vegas, it's *imperative* that you be editing in a 24p timeline. If you're on a 60i timeline and slowing down 24p footage, the results would be atrocious. In a 24p timeline, it'll look like step-printing, but at least it'll look better than it would from a 60i timeline.
