Slow-motion creates "strobe effect"

I have had problems with creating slow motion in final cut. At first I had FCP 4 and when I used slow motion on a clip, rendered and played it back it would show images from a completely different clip. I was told that I should upgrade to FCP 4.5 HD, and so I did and the problem went away, but now it makes the slowed down clips strobe instead. Does anyone know what goes on? Is the program corrupt, or have I messed with some settings???

I have figured out the problem, "frame blending" was unchecked for one sequence whenI went to sequence settings. I dont know how it got unchecked but that took care of it... thanks for your reply!
