Slow Down Man

Yep, right click on the even and select "insert velocity envelope"

or

while holding "ctrl" left click on the edge of the event and drag.

How do you do this effectivly for slowing/speeding up just small sections of one clip?

The envelope doesnt seem to be working to well for me, is it just that i'm not doing it right?

Use the velocity envelope and place points at the precise time you want to speed up or slow down or Split the clip at the points you want the slow and start to begin insert velocity or stretch the clip.

Yes, but it's jumpy!

Hi all,

I did some slow mo this way and ended up having to undo it and live with the speed. Vegas slowed the clip down but when rendered to standard NTSC DV template, the motion was jumpy. Hardly acceptable.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

While we're at it, how do you do an effective freeze frame without having to grab one frame and paste it a zillion times?

Thanks,

Tyler

Paste the "one frame", then stretch it for however long you want to show it. A frame is the same as a .jpg at that point.

It's usually reccomended you switch to 60i and shoot 1/120 Shutter Speed when projecting to go to Slow Motion. Of course this is one style of slow motion; there is also the standard 24p SLOW MO as in TARANTINOS opening RES DOGS sequence.

ANd Safety O is correct; I usually just SAVE a GRAB and then PASTE and stretch the .jpeg as far as needed.

Voytek, I enjoy your inexhaustible enthusiasm and your utter disregard for the conventions of the English language!
