SloMo Recap, 60i and 30p on a 24p timeline (Question)

Let me see if I have this straight:

60i

To get about 50% speed slow motion on a 24p timeline, you import a 60i clip (shot with 1/120 shutter speed and imported at 29.97) and then just uncheck "frame blending" and set to 40% speed

OR

Bring the 60i clip (also shot at 1/120th shutter speed and captured at 29.97) into Cinema Tools, then de-interlace and conform to 30p, then set that clip to 80% speed in the 24p timeline, something like this:

OR

30p:

For 30p on a 24p timeline just capture at 29.97 drop the 30p clip onto the 24p timeline and set to 80% speed for about a 20% speed reduction at 24p.

Question: Is there a specific shutter speed to use with 30p? Do you need to do anything additional to the 30p clip or do you just capture it and drop it in?

Anything to add to this?

Thanks!

Shutter speed only determines how much motion blur you do or don't want to end up with.

Understanding Compressor properly is very helpful when you get this bogged down with specifics.
"Apple Pro Training Series: Compressor 3.5" is only about $30, very worth having.

Awesome! Thank you. I have jumped right into compressor. Many of the settings seem self explanatory. Better resolution means "this is going to take a lot longer to render" and higher compression means "It's probably going to look worse than you want it ."

(Tongue firmly in cheek) But I do get your point. I'll add that book to the ever expanding shopping list.

Best regards, Louis
