Slo-Mo while using 24p

hey I was just wondering if anybody could tell me the most effective way to achieve a good smooth slo-mo while shooting in 24p. Thanks

The topic has come up before, try doing a search for it.

Basically, you can either get programs that make new frames based on the ones you have, to give a smoother effect (which don't always work properly)

Or you can shoot in 60i, deinterlace, slow down and then export at 24fps

ORRR you can bite the bullet and just stick it out with the 24 frames slow motion...

You have to think about what you want the final product to look like. If you shoot in a higher frome rate, but interlaced mode you will get a smoother look, but it will look like video. That's not a bad thing, if that's what you want. Since you were asking about 24P however I would assume that you want the progressive, more filmic look. In that case, I would go with x2maq68's suggestion of shooting 30P. I've slowed it down as much as 60% and (IMHO) it can still look good. At 60%, shooting 30P you are seeing 18 FPS, which is what they used to shoot silent films in. (That's why they look so fast when played back at 24 FPS). Not as smooth as doubling the frame rate, but with the DVX it's about the best you can do for an in-camera solution.
