Slider Question

Hey guys,

Ok so I was trying to figure out a few things about my new slider that I recently purchased. Im trying to do a shot where the camera is sliding and focusing on the door/apt # but as you can see from the photo i attached in the post im getting the slider in the shot as well. Not sure what I would need to do if anyone knows any tips or tricks to get this to work. Im trying to get the whole door in the shot at 1st then have the camera slide into the #

Ideally you would use a dolly, not a slider (difference explained here in post #5). Alternately you can put the camera on a riser to elevate it up off of the slider some, but then you will lose stability.

Enough for what? Are you trying to do the same shot as the OP? If so, the answer depends on many factors (slider length, lens focal length, camera height, placement of number on door are a few) - but a tape measure out at the end of the slider that is in the shot will tell you very quickly.
