Slider for around $400-500?

Hey guys,
I have a budget of about $400-500. I'm looking for a slider that will work well with my Canon 7D. I'm looking for maybe a ball bearing system that's 3.5 ft +. I have two tripod stands that will hold it and a 701 HDV Fluid Head. I just want something will produce a really smooth shot and something around that price range. I don't know much about sliders so I thought I'd turn to you guys. Any suggestions?

I just purchased a Konova K5C3 120CM (4ft / ball bearing) from a fellow DVXuser here. It is buttery smooth and has all the features that you listed as necessary. Can center-mount, mount on two tripods, mount vertically, etc. Brand new it's 519 on eBay, but definitely lower since one seller has a Best Offer option.

I'd recommend waiting for one used, however. It's built like a tank, very nicely machined, and isn't something I'd worry about getting second hand.

Good luck.

That's good, but how noisy is it? Most of the shots I see demo'd don't have nat sound. Mine will, so the slider I end up with needs to be both smooth and dead quiet.

I'll let you know soon! I just ordered mine---should be here next week!

I tested it in my living room, where it's fairly quiet, and there wasn't any noise that I could make out. But if noise is an issue I would highly suggest recording off-camera with a standalone mic.

The slider I got also had some kind of lubricant on the rails as well. Don't know if that comes with the Konova or if the previous owner applied it on himself, but either way I would think that it might help dampen the sound even more. So that's another option if you HAVE to record directly to your camera.
