Sleep mode on external HDs !!!

Some External HDs have sleep mode and shutdown temporarily between useage. I figure this could be bad news when using one of these devices as a capture device ie via DVRack.

What are peoples thoughts and experiences?

I have an external Seagate 400gb 7200rpm Barracuda (F/W). This has this sleep mode and seemingly no way to turn it off.

It shouldn't matter much with DV Rack -- it has a large buffer that should be able to keep you from dropping frames while the drive is waking up. The buffer was large enough for 1024 frames of DV25, but I'm not sure how DVCProHD figures into this.

Also, while you are capturing, the drive should of course never go to sleep, it is only a potential issue if recording has been paused for awhile.
