Any one who loves film should go. For those who don't know. Slamdance is somewhat of a replacement of what Sundance used to be. Sundance kinda turned into not so independent as they used to be(ie. a number are funded by actors or people with millions).
They had features, docs, and shorts playing all day in the same town and street as Sundance (Park City,Utah). Some of the features I saw were Things to Do (directed by Theodore Bezaire), The Actress (Dir. Zak Hilditch), Monday (dir. HEIDI VAN LIER ), and Neo Ned (Dir.VAN FISCHER). I saw alot of shorts which I ended up enjoying a little more. Hiro, los Coyotes, and High winds were among my Top favorites. The only Doc I saw was Stroke which was very good also. If you want to look up any movies from slam dance...

I went there to take in as much as I could. So all I did was eat ,sleep ,watch movies, shoot for short doc on the trip, write, and take notes. One of the biggest highlights for me was to get about an hour hands on with the New Panavision Genesis. It has a Super 35mm sized sensor (D.O.F is equal to 35mm film..Amazing). I'm not going to list all the specs but you can find it on there website www.panavision.com. One thing I found shocking is how well I was able to figure things out with that camera as far as menu settings. Focus, zoom, aperture, and effecting the D.O.F is all basic but their menu setting was pretty similar to the DVX (granted a lot more control of the image). what I'm saying is I wasn't Lost. Using the DVX and the manual settings helped a lot.
I took a lot of notes and took alot from this experience. If you have a chance next year I am sure you would love it.

-pardon the sloppiness I just got back from work (1:00am) and in a hurry to hit the sack!!
