Size matter?

Get a bigger matte box to compensate that.

No joke, in my personal experiance there is no single piece of equipment that impresses actors and customers more than a big arse matte box.

Try it out - I dunno why but it works all the time - at least for me.

hmmm Matte boxes huh?
I have a foot stool with me at all times too.
Really, Martin Scorsese was about my height? Thanks for the confidence boost!
6, 5"? Wow! besides having trouble traveling, do you find it to be a real advantage when you're filming?

I had this fantasy of having a steadicam on me with the whole chest brace and everything, but I'm only 5'2, so think of what angles I'd be shooting. Ha ha, oh Lord, sometimes it's nice to dream.

Size matters just like every other descriptor matters, but in the end... the only thing that REALLY matters is your results.

Still... gotta' agree about the matte box for a first impression. It's like the horn on a rhino... ask a regular person to describe a "real movie camera" and they will gesture that shape, even if they don't know what to call it.

Just finished watch Sound DVD. You guys did a great job! Great tips.
So can a 5, 4" person be a boom mic person?

Yeah but it's tough... get in shape... that helps a lot also. Soft arms can't support a pole for a long take... unless you can get away with using your head... which, apparently, some people do... depends on the situation I guess.

I am only 5, 4" and I find it hard as a videographer to film sometimes. Anyone else vertically challenge or other challenges?

Never let something like this get in your way. Find the advantage you uniquely have and exploit it, then someone will envy you and wish they were 5,4".

Look at Citizen Kane. The cinematographer on that movie must have been TINY, since that whole movie is like, shot from the floor. It's always looking up at everyone.

I'm 6'7", and I'd never buy a shoulder-mounted camera! I have been called "the crane" on set, though. I was excited when I heard the HVX would be shaped just like the DVX but larger.

I'd rather be tall, but it's not all peaches and cream.

I make nice cameras look like handycams (this is a GL2):

Wow! you are a human crane. Maybe we should team up. You take the high road and I'll take the low road
