Sirui VA-5 fluid video head opinions and recommendations on a compact video head?

I can't seem to find any reviews on the Sirui VA-5 fluid head except for a few youtube videos that are not in english.

Anyone here tried it out?

What are your opinions about it and how does it compare to other video heads like Benro S6, S4, E-Image, Manfrotto, etc.?

I am looking for a compact video head to use for travel on a minimalist camera set up like;
  • GH5 and 12-35mm lens
  • 5D3 with 24-70mm lens
  • with maybe a minimalist 15mm base system for a follow focus

but mostly just camera and lens.

I would like to use the video head on a travel tripod, monopod, slider, etc.

Any suggestions for a compact fluid head with acceptable pan and tilt for this setup?

Thank you.

Why buy fake Chinese Sachtler when you can buy the real thing? If a real Sachtler is out of your budget, the Miller AIR CF would be perfect for you.

Hi Puredrifting, thanks for the suggestion. Is there any other models you could recommend that is cheaper?

For me, personally, no. The Miller AIR is available with aluminum alloy legs at around $900.00, CF is about $1,100.00. I know of no other cheaper tripod that is any good IMHO. Definitely try a Sachtler ACE in person before buying one, I find them flimsy and awful.

I would not skimp on the tripod...I use a Miller D20 head with my current set ups and in this weight range my choice would be Miller or Satchler...If I land up getting the Varicam LT, a $5000 Cartoni will be part of that budget...a tripod is the worst thing you can skimp on...you'll just land up buying another one down the road.

Agreed 100%. Most camera owners buy too much camera and not enough tripod, which is an incredibly short sighted way to spend/waste your money.
