Sirui Tripod Quality

I have a Gitzo 2542LS right now.
Its a great tripod as it a decent weight, has a great height, and folds decently small.
But, I am trying to get something that is more ideal for travel.

The Gitzo has a large top as it can convert to a 100mm bowl for video use, which is pointless for me. It adds bulk and weight.
I've done research and the Sirui N-2204X Carbon Fiber Tripod seems to be the closest/best option.

BUT... what the quality of this tripod like?
These dont sell in Canada so I cant get a feel for it.
I would need to order from B&H.

Can't speak to their tripods, but if the quality is consistent with their monopods, it is excellent. Great value for the money. They even make a lightweight 4 section tripod where one leg can be removed and used as a monopod. Don't know if that one is available in carbon or not.
Very high quality materials, nice smooth positive leg locks, Nice little extras like retractable foot spikes and reversible captive 1/4" and 3/8" head screws.

Are you using this for video? Why don't you want one with a flat base?

I have several sirui photo tripods and I really like them, IMO really good quality.
OTOH, lots of new Chinese tripods that are pretty great too. I have a lightweight Benro with a flatbase and I really like it too.

No, never said this was for video use.
I never said I dont want one with a flat base.... I dont understand where youre getting this information from

Because you said: "The Gitzo has a large top as it can convert to a 100mm bowl for video use, which is pointless for me. It adds bulk and weight." Not sure it was too much of a leap to assume you didn't want a flat base.

Also just a bit confused since this is mainly a video/film forum.
