soooo, recently a friend gives me all their Avid media and bins and I begin the process of converting it to a Final Cut Pro project. this is a for a feature shot on the HVX200. for sh*ts and giggles I give a straight import of the MXF files a shot.... AND IT WORKED?!?!?!?!?! It didn't create a new QuickTime, just linked to the native media.
i was perplexed, befuddled, discombobulated. a little google-style research turned up this...

what i learned is that having Panasonic's P2CMS app installed, also installs "MXFImporter.component", making native support possible. video and audio need to be sync'd separately, but it's a start.
