Looks like it comes out tommorow.. the one they shoulda released way back when. Tons of special features on there, which will make me buy it. RR 10 minute film school is worth the price all alone :)

Still kinda pissed they released that sad sad version a couple months ago though.
 
It's about time. I'm not a huge fan of the film or anything, but I love the special features on these bad boys. I'll throw it to the top of my NetFlix list.
 
aww :( Blockbuster online isn't releasing the special edition. Looks like I will have to buy it :( lol

I'm really excited about this release, I've been waiting forever for it.
 
I don't know about ya'll but I'm getting sick of this whole DVD release, 6mos. later special edition release, and then 6 mos. later special special edition release.

How many damned copies of a DVD do I need to own?
 
RR had nothing to do with the last release of Sin City on DVD. I've read up on this movie so much it's sickening. I could probably do a whole 100 page report on this movie and the various things involved in it.

Anyways, Miramax felt the money finger itching and they wanted to sell just the movie to make some more $$$. Don't know if they were very successful, because everyone knows that RR makes his own DVD extras and stuff.

And Jarred, unless you like breakfast tacos, the 10 minute film school isn't going to be anything like "how to composite backgrounds in place of green screens." At the premiere earlier this year he told everyone in the audience that the film school was going to be how to make breakfast tacos.

The thing I'm really interested in is the 17 minute continuous take that QT directed. It's purely uncut...the scene with Johnny Boy and Dwight in the car. I don't think it's even composited, I think it's mostly just the two actors with the half car in front of the green screen.

Nonetheless, I asked for this DVD and will get it at XMAS! WOO!
 
is it a different 10 min film or the one on Once Upon a Time in Mexico just thrown on here again as another little extra

I show the Once Upon a Time One in my Sound for Theatre and Film class along with the Lord of The Rings disc that lets you toggle between the isolated tracks of location sound, foley, fx, adr, scoring ... at least I used to ... before the hurricane ... when I still had a job *lucy crying*

Finally something I can tell my GF to tell her mom to get me for Christmas other than gift certificates to EVS.
 
I was mistaken. There is a 15 minute film school on this DVD, along with a 10 minute cooking school. Sorry for the screw up.

Also, I'm going to change my choice for the best special feature on this DVD from the uninterrupted scene that QT directed to the Audience soundtrack recorded at the Austin premiere. I was there! It's cool, I'm a part of DVD history. It's definitely the first time an audience has been recorded and put on a DVD to correspond to the movie..
 
Man, with the audience track, all I have to do is ask my wife to make her cell phone ring a few times while continually kicking the back of my lazy boy, and the theater experience will come to life.

Sin City is the first RR movie that I actually loved. I've liked his other work, but this is, IMHO, his finest to date. Best Buy must be paid a visit tommorrow.
 
yeah he has a cooking lesson with a film lesson on a couple of his DVD's.

I already bought the first one that came out and i hate that they totally screwed me. Im still going to buy the new one for the 10 minute film school. although im still extremely upset that they did that.

Amerikan123, I hear you on that. I hate when I end up buying two dvd's because of situations like this. Just have to think of it as an investment in yourself. That usually helps ease the pain for me....
 
yeah.. i actually have stopped buying dvds that have no features as I know down the road they are gonna release something special... and if they dont, well their little reindeer games backfire on them then i guess.
 
im going out tomorrow and getting this dvd hopefully. i almost bought the version that came out back a few months ago then heard about this version and held off. its been hard though cause i love this movie.
 
Gonna get it naturally - Tired of paying Roberts mortgage payments though!

Umm, anyone looking for a heavily used "original release" of Sin City for cheap?...
 
if i make a movie and a dvd comes out for it...im going to have a "Love Making School" extra feature....where i teach you the intricate hispanic/french/german/polish ways of making love like no other.

im also going to have a "Stay Up All Nite and Work School"..where i teach you the ins and outs of how to stay up all nite while still being productive and enthusiastic about the job at hand. we will delve into the world of nicotine, caffeine, antibiotics, and narcotics as means for giving you that extra pep to keep pushing forward at all odds. there will also be an "all natural" counterpart for this school using herbs, oils and and bodily secretions to keep you upright.
