simulating phone dialogue

Well, to start, a voice on the phone has no freqs below 400 hertz or above 3,400 Hz. Adjust a bandpass filter to give you that. Then I'd lower the volume by a bunch.

yeah, it's fairly simple. You can see how simple is you have a 3 band eq on your car radio or home radio. Turn down the bass and treble all the way and leave the mid range where it is. Your already getting pretty close. It's mostly rolling off the lower tones and then you can add a slight bit of noise if you really want to as well. I would just play with the eq on the sound and see what sounds best. Some programs even have presets to acheive that sound.
