Simulating a flickering effect in FCP

Hello folks!
I want to emulate a flickering image in FCP, but I don't have a clue how to do it. Basically, I want the image to flicker and then act as if the TV has switched off. I mean, the way the TV switches off. I have seen it on a Music video from a DVXUser member, but I don't really remember the title of the music video.
I know it was one with a guy going to a hospital and trying to become like a girl. The music video has loads of clones (if I may call them that way).
Does anyone remember that music video?
Has anyone have any idea how to emulate this effect in FCP?

As to the effect, I can't think of any other way except basic keyframing...

You can do it with keyframing but I've seen some filters that do this as well. Do a search on the net or places like http://toolfarm.com/

Ok, I get the flickering effect with keyframes, but how about that effect of switching off the TV. The light that goes towards the center before going to black screen.
Any ideas?

Try scaling image down with increased level and blur.

Another possibility is to go to GeeThree.com and check out their many effects for iMovie. You'd only have to do one brief clip in iMovie, save as a QuickTime file, import into FCP and attach it to the end of the clips in your sequence.
