I'm shooting some cabaret thing tonight, and the organizers want me to basically sit on a tripod, but the want to run a line from the sound board into the xlr input on the dvx, but as I just want to give them the tapes and walk away, is there a way to make 1 line in record as both the left and right tracks, in stead of just into left or right, so when they dump it onto dvd it wont have to be mixed? Any ideas appreciated!

That doesn't make sense. They will want to have a seperate left and right, which is why they asked for it. Pretty simple.

But, anyway, yes. Put it into channel 2 and set both channel 1 & channel 2 to the channel 2 source.

And don't forget Line instead of Mic. ;-)

My point is that they will probably be giving you a left AND right from the board. That's what mixing boards do. You probably won't get just one channel. If you do, then yeah, it's easy. If you did just put it on one channel it's really easy in post to duplicate that to another audio track with no mixing involved at all.
