i created a little animation of falling leaves i made over a black background.
how do i drop the black so that i can overlay it on some footage?
i tried blending mode and couldnt get it right.
thanks.
well the easiest way is to have no background, or just turn off your background and then bring in the video behind the animation or just export "with alpha"
Using an alpha channel is always "cleaner" and faster than keying so avoid keying in PremPro if possible. Keying graphics is kind of redundant. PremPro is well set up for the use of alpha and that is how the titler works. (Assuming that you are using PremPro ?)
I would create the leaves in AE and eliminate the BG layer then export the comp as an avi with alpha.
or ...you could bring your footage in to AE and use that as the bg and render it out from there
When possible create or render an animation channel when creating animation. If you don't have an alpha channel and have images on black you can do a luminance key to put it over another element.
