Yes, my question is simple.
If i buy a very fast computer, lets say Pentium D 3,6 with 4 Gb of RAM and some decent but simple Sata HDD.
If i buy too a decklink card that brings me HD sdi input...

Will i be able to capture and encode in real time, without loosing frames, the streaming coming from the H1 or any other HDsdi video signal into a low compression codec such as QT photo JPEG or cineform hd?

Is this possible or it is a must to buy a raid disc with SCASI disks that would cost around $15k?

The question is simple, no one seems to give me an answer.

I think in most cases it is the drives that are the week link, so I think the raid array is a priority. Not sure if you could use Sata in a raid array and not drop frames, but I would think so. Guess this isn't an answer either, sorry :)

I don't believe you need a fast CPU or lots of RAM to capture HD. See the Decklink requirements.

With Vegas:
A- Only the Decklink cards will work. Some of the latest Decklink drivers won't work, you may need older ones.
B- If you want to use Vegas, you have to capture with the SonyYUV codec. This rules out lossless or compressed codecs.

As far as the computer goes...
The Blackmagic site has information on what works. A particular SATA RAID is one of them. Also, you need specific motherboards.
