Simple Q: linking video clips with audio clips

Hey, I have a quick question. I don't know if I pressed the wrong button or anything but the footage I have on FCP 6 has video footage and its audio but moving either around doesn't move the other. When highlighting them, "modify" up top has "link" checked but I need to be able to link an audio clip with video so moving one moves the other. As it is, it just gets annoying. Any answer to this seemingly easy thing?

You can easily highlight the items you want linked - the Audio and the Video, in this case - and hit Cmd + L and they are linked. You'll see the line appear beneath the name when you've done it.

That's the thing: I hit those and the clips still move independently of each other. Highlighting them and moving them around works but with some clips having multiple tracks being used, I need to be able to just drag around one clip and it moves the full assortment. Just clicking "link" doesn't work
