Simple Photoshop or Illustrator question

Hi there, I suck at PS or AI, but there is something very simple I really like to learn.

I'm just trying to make a nice lower third where one end fades out. Like, picture a rectangle where the left side is solid but slowly fades out towards the right side.

I don't even know what it is called so I can't google it.

Thanks

I think the word you're looking for is gradient. In photoshop there is a gradient tool, from memory I think its the 12th one down in the left side tool bar.
Also when you create a new document - top menu > file > new click on preset and select Film & Video and use the drop down menu
ntsc anamorphic, 720p, 1080p, film 4k all the templates are there

Ah. I did it in After Effects. Linear Wipe!

If you guys still want to chip in, please do. But my immediate concern has been addressed.

Thanks
