In pursuit of making a simple foamcore holder
my eyes stopped on those based on metal plate
on which you adhesive tape the foamcore.

or similar.
I wanted to come up with a very simple solution.
A metal plate and rod as a stud looks quite simple,
but not being to confident in welding( or soldering)
such a thin plate with a rod i was looking for even simpler design.
The parameters in coming with my 'design'
were the available and comfortable with materials,
the tools and the simpliest processes...
And the idea came!
I decided to base my foamcore holder
on a thin metal rod twisted in the appropriate shape,
then taped on the foamcore and attached on grip head.
I was looking for those iron rods used for making the
mesh that goes into the molds in construction work,
in those were cement is poured.
At the hardware/construction work supply store
i was initially looking for 4-5mm thick rods.
The thinest available was 6mm, but after lifting some pieces
i came to the conclusion the weight would be OK.
I asked to cut me 2x75cm rods and
went with the request to fold them as follows:
The folding was of course free of charge,
and the price for the rods - ridiculous to mention.
Home i did some minor straightening,
to make it lie flat on a surface and
stick welded at the contact point.
(Maybe not really a necessary step but...)
After cleaning it with rotating metal brush
and sand paper i sprayed it black.
That's it.
And here is my 'thing' in action:
(mounted on my DIY Grip Head and DIY C-stand)
and CU:
As you can see i used simple wide adhesive tape.
I am sure in interior and calm exterior it will hold OK.
Hope you may find use of this simple DIY design.
Regards
Igor
PS: The balance of this "b" shape holder is not central.
I had/have in mind to do a another one in which the stud will
'come out' from the middle of a side of the square.
Again, folded out of one piece.
If you know what i mean...
