simple diffusion material...?

Hey. I was just wondering if there's a simple diffusion material that i could use that is heat resistance? I've heard people talk about frosted shower curtains and such but I was hoping I could find something that i could attach to my lights like a gel, so i could just clip it on the barndoors and help soften my open faced lights. I know a softbox would be ideal but given all the expenses I have for gear at the moment, and I'm only doing a practice short film, I'd like to try to find something inexpensive and easy to use. Thanks! :)

Wax paper works and it's designed to handle heat. It's worth a try. As always, keep an eye on it.

EDIT: Another thing you might want to experiment with is bouncing light off of white foam core boards to soften it.

No problem, but test it first just to make sure you don't have to make the 911 call. If you can rig up some sort of frame for it to get it farther away from the light, that would be ideal.

Go to a specialized store where you pick up gel filters. You will find a lot of types of diffusion from Lee or Rosco (sometimes also called white frost).

unfortunately being that i live in the middle of nowhere in canada at that, i don't really have anywhere to pick up gels or anything of the such. I have to pretty much order anything I want.
