simple capture question

This may seem simple but...if I shoot at 24p and capture into fcp in the dv-ntsc mode, does it default to 29.97?

Does it matter if at all if footage is shot 24p or 30p if it's not imported specifically for 24p?

thnx

24p runs at 29.97fps...as does 30p. Only 24PA is captured with the Advanced Pulldown Removal to get it to 23.98.

24p, when you want the 24p effect in a 60i project.
24pA, when you want native 24p in a 24p project.

24p and 60i can be cut together in the same project? I thought the footage had to be shot one way or the other.

I'm just learning fcp.

yeah you can cut 60i, 24p, and 30p in the same sequence. You probably won't want to, but you can. The only time you will NOT capture and sequence something as DV NTSC 29.97 is when you are working with 24PA. for that you will want to add the pulldown removal and also edit in a 23.98 sequence.

Great, that helps a lot.
