Thanks. The only thing is that if I opted for their "Best Value" plan at $3 per day unlimited, it would come to $120 total for both phones for three weeks. After buying the $10 phones and taxes, you're talking $160. If I opted for their $1 per day/10 cents a minute plan, I would have to speak less than 30 minutes each day to receive a better deal than the aforementioned plan.
Is it me or is this entirely unreasonable?
These plans are such headaches to read and compare.
Working payphones have become extinct in the United States. Something to do with the ozone layer or crack addicts or something. Got a flat the other day, my cell died, so I walked to a nearby payphone and it had literally been destroyed...so I walked to the next one and it too looked like it lost a fight with a hammer.
So I'm at the AT&T store and there is a waiting list of names. People are asking complicated questions about plans and having long conversations with sales associates about the details.
No coffee. No entertainment. Just a dozing security guard.
I find the manager and say, "I know what I want to buy. Two SIM cards..." He says, "You have to wait until your name is called." I say, "But I don't need to talk about it. I know what I want. I'm ready to buy." He says, "We can't simply take you in front of others who may also be buying." I say, "Then let's check. Let's read off the names and ask each person if he is here to buy or to talk."
However, he refused. Said something about the possibility of a fistfight.
This story, by the way, is free for the taking. Just make sure the manager wears a tie so that his position is obvious.
