Silver Retention

anyone know how to get the look of silver retention... the process that was used in "Belly" I know that it has to do with not bleaching the film... and since my DVX has no film (as does noones ) I'm sure it won't be exact but does anyone know any settings or anything I can do in post to make it look this way

Silver retention (aka bleach bypass) leaves the film with higher contrast and reduced color saturation. So you can achieve a similar effect by steepening your contrast curves and partially desaturating your image. There are different ways to achieve this effect--here's a few examples.

My favorite look is the Bleach Bypass; I always start with Saturation.
