silly question.....can i use a TV as a monitor

hey guys, i'm a newbie and i'm just wondering if i can get by using a sony trinitron tv as a monitor. if so, what's the proper way to go about configuring it properly. i'm going to buy the DVX100A and a bunch of other crap and would like to cut my costs wherever i can. thanks.

yes you of course can.. its not the best way but who gives... specially if most of your audience is gonna be watching your stuff on a TV. to set it up, show some plurge bars and make the middle grey bar disapear, and set the white bar just white enough that it doesnt "bleed" into the other bars.
