Silhouettes

I don't know if this goes in this topic but maybe someone can help. How do you do silhouettes to people or something? Like how they did it to curly in city slickers.

Umm, backlighting? Not sure exactly what you're referring to... perhaps a screen grab of something like what you want would help?

Yep, light the background but not the subject. Easy as that. You can choose to also backlight and rim-light the subject, to show off their edges. But a perfect silhouette generally has no light on it, only behind it in the frame.

Thanks. I think I may have a general idea of how to set the lighting and scenery up to make it work. If anyone has anymore suggestions please tell.

this is a thread i started which may be of some use

Light the backround(significantly), and expose the camera for the backround, not the foreground, or whichever subject you want sillouhetted.
