Silent slider

I'm looking for slider which makes nut much noise.
As well it should not be bulky, but handle Sony Fs700 or F3.
Kessler CineSlider?

I want to use it during interviews for B cam automatic movement.

Thanks.

I don't know of any slider with a motor drive for automatic movement quiet enough to use for interviews.

I rented the Redrock OMC for a job and liked it. Not sure if I liked it enough to buy one for now but it worked well for me. It's totally silent at slower speeds but does make some sound at max speed. The advantage of the Redrock is that it's extremely easy to set up and take down. Faster than any slider that I've used. And it slides in an arc so the focus range stays the same throughout the slide. That's useful if you want to use a narrow depth of field. Any other motorized straight slider could go out of focus since the camera range changes as it moves end to end. My issue is that the controls are not that intuitive. I had issues switching from manual to automatic and back. Also, stopping the thing was troublesome. I wish there was a carriage release so I could move the head to where I wanted it without waiting for the motor to do it. I wish I had time to play around with it more and do some push shots. It won't do verticals because Redrocks said that would overtax the motor.

Well, I am waiting for RigWheels to come up with a kit that does horizontal and vertical slides under variable -speed motor with an 8 lb load.

I have a Kessler Cineslider with the Parallax and motor. Any fast slider movement will not be silent on the Cineslider with or without the motor. But if you use a 100 or 50 series motor and set the speed to slower than about a foot every 10 seconds, you won't pick it up.

Wait... do you have the oracle? I thought the oracle can't ping pong. Kessler is suppose to come out with the unidrive for NAB. How are you liking the parallax? I found it a little bit too expensive for what it is. It cost more than most sliders.

From what I understand about Kessler's gearing, if you use the 50 or 100 series motors at super slow speeds, they have very little torque. Won't be good for heavier loads. Like lugging the engine at 20 mph in fifth gear. I was listening to the Edelkrone Wizard online and that sounds very loud, too.

Actually Nick Homrich made a review about the edelkrone SliderPLUS V2, Target and Wizard Motion Control Modules. If you have not seen them yet, you could check them out from the links down below. You could also find out the sound of the Motion Control Modules make.

If you use any of the Kessler motors at less than 10% output, they are quiet enough, but you are going to get inconsistent results as the torque is low. I am really hoping that the Unidrive is a sound muffling single axis controller with auto restart for continuous movement that fits over top of the motor. It would be brilliant.

I think the Parallax is an amazing piece of kit for pure usability. I often want to do tracking slider moves, but I can't do it by hand. The Parallax solves the problem and it's rock solid. You can just keep it on the slider all of the time. Or remove the attachment in about 10 seconds if you feel the need. It's a really impressive design.

Nevermind. Just checked the thread on the video about the Unidrive and realize that it is standalone digital unit. Oh well. It ain't going to be cheap.
