Silencer Problems...

Ok so i'm order a P99 blank gun and a fake silencer. The problem is: all blank guns in the US have those stupid plugged barrels which means the adapter thread for the silencer can't be threaded into the barrel. How do i fix this? The last thing i wanna do is buy the gun... drill out of plug and then retap the barrel with the appropriate threads to get it to work... that's too much hassle... Anybody an expert in the gun area?

If you are going to have a silencer thread INTO the barrel, you are better of not bothering. Pass on the blank gun, get an airsoft, and as suppressed firearms dont muzzle flash, you dont even have to bother with the flash in post.

(Suppressors thread onto the outside of a longer tactical barrel.)

Here is one of several I have for a project. All are P99c (compact) airsoft gas blowbacks. This one here is the hero - the suppressor threads onto a custom extended threaded barrel. Due to the extra weight on the front end, blowback action doesnt work. This gun is for closeups and showing the barrel being threaded onto the gun. I also have a second gun with the suppressor fixed to the gun and the blowback function on that gun works. That gun is for showing the gun being fired. I also have a p99c blowback with no modifications.

I honestly believe your best bet is airsoft.

Thanks GageFX,

I appreciate the help. Here is what I need. I'm going to be shooting a film beginning in Jan. (6-8 minutes long). I need a gun that will look very real in close-ups, be able to have a silencer skrewed on, AND have the shell kick out the side. I'm filming with an HVX-200 with and M2 and some Nikon and Zeiss lenses so i'll be able to show shell ejection at 60 frames. Right now i was looking at something like 340 for the gun and silencer. Can i achieve all of that with airsoft guns and how much would they be? Thanks a lot.

P.S. Also, I see your in LA... the last semester of my senior year I'll be out there at the LA Film School... do you have any tips of reccomendations before I get out there to get into the business? I currently just make short films for my classes here and my next project is getting my steady-cam license in Jan.
