Signs of a wannabe audiophile:

I had the TV on lastnight and was looking at "Joey" on NBC. Lucy Lui was playing some sort of director-type. (the audio was muted on the tv)

She was in the director's chair, seemingly barking off directions. All I could think of was, "Whhhaat kind of headphones are those?" "How unreal?!!!"

They were headphones I used to use..Sony MDR-V250 $29.99 at Fry's Electronics. Yes, they are cute and dainty and don't make you look like a martian, but I have a better pair now.

I have the sony's and had no idea they didn't do jack to help isolate ambient sound until I got a better pair.

I always feel the need to share this....Koss portapro or sportapro. pricey at $80.00 canadian, but lifetime warranty and awesome dynamic range, you'll never look back. Top of head and low ambient sound suppression, but when these babies perform you don't hear much else!

I never realized how important really good audio monitoring is until it cost me some time. I thought I was done burning a program to DVD. When I checked it on the TV turned up loud, I heard a buzz that I missed. I had to fix the edit. reencoded, reauthor, reburn. recheck--all that joy.
I'm sure there are much worse happenings. and hell, it will probably happen again.
