Sidewings are Flopping on matte box

Hi All,
I just recieved a Chrosziel 4x4 matte box and side wings for my birthday . 8) Any way - The matte box itself is a enginnering wonder. The problem I,m having is with the sidewings. I used a picture from the 16x9inc web site to see how they attached to the mattebox. I first drilled a few small holes in the side of the mattebox for the tiny screws that hold the sidewing's mounts. Then I had to figure out which way the mounts were turned in order to recieve the wings. This was not that hard to do but did require some brain work ???
The problem is - the side wings just flop around - the lock nuts used to tighten the sidewings down requires a small wrench to do so. The required wrench was not included in the package. I think having a small attached nob to lock the wings down would be a great help or am I missing something ?
Is there anyone that can help?

Hi,

to tighten the nuts on the sidewing mounts you just need a 3 mm allen key, check your toolbox or local hardware store.

Re: Sidewings are Flopping on matte box

Thanks joachim
I found a 3mm allen key.
I think having to fumble around to find a small allen key every time I want to adjust the sidewings is a pain.
I'm going to find a wing nut or something to replace the hex nut and screw.

Re: Sidewings are Flopping on matte box

I never touched the screws again after adjusting them once. Seems like a locking nut in there.
What I find strange is that you have to play DIY guy when buying a Chrosziel mattebox with sidewings in the US. Here in Germany the unit comes fully assembled.

Re: Sidewings are Flopping on matte box

Thanks for your help joachim,
I wonder if you could help?
Maybe I'm doing somthing wrong, but after a few times of opening and closing the sidewings they work themselves loose. Maybe I haven't placed the small washers in the right place. Joachim, where are the washers placed on the wings axel on your mattebox?

Re: Sidewings are Flopping on matte box

mmmh, in my mattebox there are no washers.
The bolts are screwed directly into a locking nut.

Re: Sidewings are Flopping on matte box

Yes, thats what I would call them - washers - they are very thin about 12 of them. They fill in the space between the sidewing mount and axel. I'm going to tighten the bolt down it will stay tight for a while.
Thanks for you help joachim
