'Sideways'....you gotta see it

I saw the film last night and was blown away by the filming effects. I felt that I got a short course in creative camera work and effects. Simply wonderful.
I should mention that it is a great film re story, plot, etc.
Classic road trip by two great actors.
Ultimate 'guy flick'.

I agree. I attended a screening here in L.A. in which Alexander Payne was present, and he was a very interesting person to listen to, and is quite gifted as a director and storyteller.

It's a great movie. One of the best of the year, no doubt about it. That's my take on it, anyways.

I just saw it and I thought it was real good.
...The only thing was that I thought it was shot kinda wierd. Maybe its me but the whole time I thought that the flick was a little out of focus and high contrast... maybe Alexander Payne used this style on purpose... ??? Does anyone know what it was shot on cause it didn't feel like film...

What you mention was what I found to be so interesting.
He must have used mist and diffusion filters extensively.
Almost a surreal effect especially when the light was right.
It gave me a feel for how effectively these filters can be
used.
Looked to me like he knew what he was doing.

Absolutely terrific. Definitely see this film. It is an incredible charcter-piece that left me wanting to just sit in the theatre and continue watching the film for another few hours.

hmm I went to see this movie b/c everyon of you said it was good....but I didn't really like it. Prolly b/c I really couldn't relate to it much being only 18 years old. There was a couple of funny parts...and then there was that really gross part that I wish I didn't see. Other than that I jsut thought it was boring.

I've gotta jump on the bandwagon because this is a terrific film. Alexander Payne is on the top of his game. His movie Election is one of my all-time faves. Sideways is in similar territory. I hope he scores a Best Director nomination.
