Side by Side Camera Test (BMCC, BMPCC, C300, FS700, FS100, 5D MarkIII, and MORE.

My production company did a side by side camera test yesterday of the cameras in our rental fleet. It's to see how well the cameras can cut together, and just what the strengths and weakness are for each. We set up a controlled setting and used the same lens on each camera. The cameras we tested were: Blackmagic Cinema Camera, Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, Canon C300, Sony FS700 (with SLOG update), Sony FS100, Canon 5D Mark III, Sony NEX7, Sony EX-1r, GoPro Hero 3 (with interchangeable lenses), and Canon 60D. Yes, there are other cameras to try and in our next round of testing we will attempt to include some of the suggestions. We hope to post the video in the next day or two.

Very interesting, I'll definitely tune in.

Did you test the 5D3+RAW, or just H.264?

And which settings did you use on the NEX7? Neutral or Portrait?

Nice budget variety. Will be great to see how they treat the same subject matter together. Thanks

For the in depth test, the 5D3 was only recorded in H.264, I do believe that we ran a simple base test with raw, but I may be wrong, we are saving our raw tests for another video.

The NEX-7 was shot in Portrait with everything (contrast, sat, sharpening) turned to -3.

^ Pity about the 5D3+RAW, but I'm very happy about those settings on the NEX: I like it with a bit more saturation (link), but Portrait gives about a stop better DR than the others, the price for that being, lots more noise at ISO 3200.
