Sick of shifts

Im sick of shifts in FCP/Colour - I just cant get a file to look right

Now, you will think Im mad but id like to..

Export my timeline as tiffs, batch work them in Capture One as a final grade

I can do this fine but then when import my corrected stills to QT and then export as H264 it all shifts again

I love editing on FCP but the colour drives me wild

So is there a way not using QT or FCP to take my corrected Tiff image stream, connect it to the sound track and make a nice H264 file?

TIA

blender can import stills sequences as well as output h.264 as far as i know... blender.org

just check some youtube tutorials and you'll be fine.

cheers

you know that the prores codec contains its own internal auto gamma correction? (which will cause shifts such as your screen grab)
just checking because you didn't mention it. Turning this off will alleviate a good portion of your fcp7 issues. Color to FCP pipeline will still case a shift of a different nature.

edit:
I wrote a blog post here showing how to turn it off in fcp7

I know nothing but pain

I just want to grade, export and get the same thing!

any links/tuts etc very appreciated

switch to fcpx, many issues fixed

Short answer that might be right!

I tried it, hate the bubblegum interface and the magic wand icon makes me want to puke, im worried that my media is going to get lost as I try to move it to external HDs

but Im sure I can get round that lot!

First go colour was pretty consistent right down the chain

So Im gonna try it - thanks
