This is one section i havent really explored with the DVX... but am i little confused on the hole shutter stuff....

IF i wanted to get a smoother still image wat settings should i adjust the shutter speed to for 30p and 24p...? Adjusting the shutter speed does give me a smoother image right? If not what does the shutter stuff do and when to use it? What settings is best for what? Also Whats all this sychro scan stuff about?

Re: Shutter speeds?!?

If you want a still image that has less motion blur, increase the shutter speed. Doing so reduces the amount of light coming in, so you will need to compensate with exposure.

Re: Shutter speeds?!?

Shorter shutter speeds = crisper motion with less blur. Slower shutter speeds give more blur. For extracting still frames you might want to use a short shutter speed (like 1/250 or so) but your motion will be very choppy and staccato. There really isn't a very good way to get both smooth motion and sharp still frames.

Re: Shutter speeds?!?

Wats the default on the camera.... 1/48 ? 1/60?

Re: Shutter speeds?!?

Depends on what mode you're shooting in. For 30P and 60i, it's 1/60th. For 24P (or PAL 25P and 50i) it's 1/50th.
