I kind of screwed up on a florscent lights shoot. The light strobe runs at 60 I believe and I shot it at 120 shutter speed. Don't ask why....but is there anyway to correct this in post?
The DVX100 has a fluorescent setting in F2. The normal flicker is set at 60.3.
I shot under this setting at 120 and experienced (I hang my head) lighting flicker.
At this point, I found that in FCP 3 under video filters, the strobe filter set at 5
gets rid of the flicker. Apparently, this filter will drop-out the flicked frames (if you
find the right ratio) by skipping - thus, the lighting smooths out. I'm not sure if I have that logic right?
One aspect of this skipping is that movement will stutter a bit. So, I'm struggling to
get the motion in good order.
For any who care to know or those who may have the same problem in the future. The best method I've found so far is taking the captured scratch clips into DV Film Maker and using the flicker setting (set at 60) in 24p to get rid of the strobing. Seems to be the best so far. At the moment, I have noise in the background but the image is pretty good.
