@Blue Food.
I hope this post doesn't come across like I'm in critique mode but I sort of am since you asked me to have a listen to these songs.
I'm trying to keep it tight so pardon me if I comment too quickly.
Frank Zapa:
Yeah, can't say enough good things about him.
Apart from his music he was a very outspoken one to champion freedom of speech in music and do it intellectually.
I can't think of any debate where he didn't come out on top. He said what others were afraid to say in public.
And never mind his crazy talent.
'Stink Foot...puts a hurt on my nose' is a song that's as fresh in my mind as when I first heard it some 30 years ago.
Miles Davis - John Mclaughlin
Talking about the greats.
That IS jazz.
Django Reinhardt:
I'm not familiar with him however I have come across his name recently but I can't remember where or why.
Maybe in the 'What are you listening to now" thread, not sure.
Good listening. Nice licks in there.
Hendrix:
I can't even go there. If anyone doesn't know who Jimmy Hendrix is then you should if your interested in the roots of North American Music.
Yeah, everything he did back then still holds up today AND just as solid.
That's as pure as rock can get.Man, he could play today and knock people silly.
Garcia:
More legends of rock.
Ya know, history has until now and I'm sure always will judge these guys kindly.
There's so much really great music out there. Unfortunatley most of it never saw radio play.
I was never one for commercially formatted music personally anyways.
The greatest music I have always heard has always been non-commercial music like the above.
'Great' post man.
//Edit: I have "Frank Zappa-Inca Roads guitar solo-1979, Munich (audio)" looping in the background as I browse around. What a great performance. Wow. Excellent.
