Shut the hell up, or get the hell out...

People that want to see it secluded and comfortable..

BTW, who sits in the first rows????? Damn that must leave your back ruined forever.....

That's my point, if they wanted a comfortable place, they would only have seat in the best viewing zone (for me ,half way up and in the exact middle) and for secluded, they would only allow a few people in, or only one person per showing.
You can't escape the chaotic world by surrounding yourself with 200 people

i've reached the point where i actually prefer to watch movies at home on blu-ray. i don't have to worry about others being a distraction, i can control the audio, i can get food whenever i want, and i can pause it to use the bathroom. the only type of movie i would probably want to see in a theatre would a crappy movie with lot of audience participation (the room, birdemic, etc.)

There is a theater in my city were they encourage audience interaction, yelling out, and making jokes, its like a bunch of friends watching a movie at home, but you have a huge screen.

LMAO!

Awesome has been achieved!

Makes me wanna move to the Magininifried States Ofamerica just so I can visit The Alamo Drafthouse out of pure solidarity!

hahahahahah

Thanks, TEXTER.

I just called everyone into my office to watch the clip, lots of clapping and loud laffin goin' down!

Awesome!

The vast majority of my movie viewing is this way, even with new stuff. I have a great setup and it's highly convenient. However...

Stay quiet, my friends.

I'm not a texter, just pointing out a foolish crusade against technology and and controlling people
They don't want to control anyone. They just don't want people to use their phones during the movie. There are plenty of other theaters that don't have such stringent rules. You could have your phone on vibrate and exit the theater for the lobby if you feel it going off. You're not paying to sit in a prison, you're paying to watch a film - this point seems lost on the woman who was ejected.

The best thing about going to the movies is that you can sit in a dark room for two hours with your phone off.

I imagine if movie theaters want to survive, this might be a usefull selling point.

Not everyone wants to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show

So don't go to alamo draft house if you don't like their policy. I wish there were a NY theatre with these rules. I might go to that theatre.

As long as everybody is a willing participant in what's going down, and it doesn't hurt anybody, I have no problem with it... like my opinion on so many things... but as soon as your enjoyment comes at the cost of my enjoyment, the deal's off.

I highly doubt any theater would encourage audience participation on a newly released film... and if they do... hopefully they make that policy known up-front.

You wouldn't catch me in such a theater... I got a house and I got friends... I'm there because of the 60' screen, awesome sound, and the larger then life experience... when somebody want take that away from me... hulk get angry! Hulk SMAAAASH!

It's like they often tell people at the Drafthouse: You're never as funny as you think you are.

Horses and courses. During "Birdemic", it was absolutely crammed with audience participation. Which was the fun of the whole event. But ... that was "Birdemic".

For anything else, I'd love love love to have a theater that had a "show respect to everyone else around you and don't be a self-centered idiot" policy, like the Alamo Drafthouse has.

I was looking to see if someone would make this point. Patrons aren't chained to their seats. They can go to the lobby if they need to make a call or send a text and come back when they're done. It is possible. Desired, even.

That said, I actually don't mind if somebody just checks a text and re-holsters the phone immediately. It is a pain to get out of a row past ten to twenty knees, down or up the stairs, and out the back—causing a disturbance at least as big as having your phone screen on for two or three seconds—just to find out if it's something you can answer when the film's over.

What annoys me is someone who keeps their phone on for extended periods of time texting or talking. If you're more interested in talking to someone outside the theater, then *go* outside the theater.

Now, about that dim lighting.... (Another area where the Alamo Drafthouse rocks, from what I've heard.)
